Andrew Karl Casey

An inventive conductor and arranger from the United States, Andrew Casey has extensive experience in standard orchestral repertoire, arranging, jazz, pop, and baroque music.

As a conductor Andrew has participated in masterclasses lead by Sir Mark Elder, Uroš Lojovic, Nicolás Pasquet, Mark Wigglesworth and Vassily Sinaisky. In masterclass settings, Andrew has also been given the opportunity to lead orchestras like the Manchester Camerata, Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a conductor outside the classical realm, Andrew is equally comfortable at the podium. Andrew is the music director, musical arranger, and founder of the Minneapolis based Andrew Casey Orchestra. The twenty-six-piece ensemble performs Andrew’s own original arrangements of classic jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, often with a featured jazz vocalist interpreting the verse. Andrew's arrangements are also in demand abroad. In 2022, Andrew led the Royal Northern College of Music’s Session Orchestra in a world premier of his own inventive arrangements of top-40 pop tunes radically reimagined into styles ranging from Dixieland to Discotheque.

Andrew has worked intimately with world renowned jazz and pop artists. In 2020, he received the opportunity to conduct Rhapsody in Blue with jazz pianist and former music director of Earth Wind and Fire, Morris Pleasure at the keyboard. In a purely pop setting, Andrew has also worked with solo pop artist, and featured singer on Postmodern Jukebox, Mario Jose.

Keyboard skills also make up a core part of his musicianship. Andrew frequently leads orchestras from the harpsichord when performing music of the Baroque masters, and has experience with a wide variety of continuo keyboard instruments, both as a leader and as an ensemble player. As a jazz pianist, he has played everywhere from his local country club in Minnesota to the White House in Washington, D.C.

In 2020, he received his Master of Music in Conducting from the Royal Northern College of Music, studying under Mark Heron and Clark Rundell. In 2021, he received and his Master of Music in Keyboard, studying under Roger Hamilton and Dan Whieldon.
